Inside Sales / SMB Account Management

Electric Imp is seeking an outstanding and experienced sales professional who has excelled in building high potential sales for new technologies from scratch. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on direct contributor and focus on small to medium sized opportunities. We are looking for a proven sales professional with a track record of success and the ability to develop, manage and close new business.

This position covers the entire US is ideally located in Silicon Valley, Bay Area, Western or Central Region.  This is an excellent opportunity to be in on the ground floor of building a leading company in this growing industry, The Internet of Things (IoT). The Client Sales Representative will report to the VP of Global Sales and will have full ownership and responsibility for building and managing our client relationships and sales efforts that support our company’s explosive growth.


  • Execute the sales strategy for the small to medium sized opportunities in targeted vertical industries, solutions, and products.
  • Drive the complete direct sales life cycle for prospecting, selling, closing and servicing small to medium enterprise and OEM accounts within assigned territory.
  • Account Management responsibility for existing and new customers.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for top 10 accounts.
  • Coordinate the deployment of pre-sales resources in sales activities in conjunction with the pre-sales leadership, including qualification of leads and priority setting.
  • Work with Senior Management to ensure the predictability and visibility of pipeline, opportunity, bookings, and to ensure ongoing deal accountability at key points in the sales cycle.
  • Work with Marketing to do both inbound lead and outbound prospecting for major OEM accounts.
  • In addition to the above, this person will interface with and regularly collaborate with adjacent disciplines.


This is a very technical sale requiring an ability to grasp and master an end-to-end hosted cloud and device connectivity solutions including: programmable microprocessors, WiFi and cellular networking, hosted cloud services, applications software, web services, embedded software and security. In addition, the larger account sale requires building business vision with C level executives on ways to transform their businesses.

  • 2-5 years of sales experience with Enterprise Software Applications, Semiconductor, Systems, SaaS, PaaS, or Networking Solutions Company. The ideal candidate will have worked in at least 2 of these domains
  • BS/BA in Marketing or Business Administration or a BS Technical / Engineering degree
  • Extensive background in solution and consultative selling approach – experience with building and
  • executing vertical and/or channel strategy
  • Experience with working from a remote office and managing priorities
  • Well organized, self-motivated and an excellent team player

  • Understanding of selling technical solutions to high-level executive decision makers
  • Excellent communication skills (negotiation, sales, presentations, email and listening)
  • Must have strong networking and team participation skills
  • Credible and convincing at all different levels of customer organizations
  • Proven track record of successfully meeting/exceeding opportunity targets
  • Experience with SFDC or another CRM a plus
  • Domestic travel required up to 20%
